A six-foot sidewalk would close the Palisades–I-285 gap

The Peachtree Dunwoody Road link carried a $400,000 estimate in March, split equally by the city and Fulton Perimeter CID. Design and land-rights work are underway.

A planned six-foot sidewalk would close a gap on Peachtree Dunwoody Road between Palisades and the existing sidewalk at the I-285 westbound exit ramp in Sandy Springs, Georgia.[1]

The city’s Oct. 23 capital-project report says a consultant for the Fulton Perimeter Community Improvement District is designing the connection, with utility coordination and right-of-way acquisition underway. The project remains listed in design; its entry gives no construction start or opening date.[1][2]

The connection is intended to join the Palisades sidewalk to sidewalk built through the Georgia Department of Transportation’s I-285/Ga. 400 interchange project. The scope presented to council includes a five-foot landscape buffer, accessible curb ramps, and pedestrian and street lighting.[1]

City Council unanimously approved the cost-sharing agreement with the Fulton Perimeter Community Improvement District on March 17. Under that arrangement, the district handles design and the city handles construction.[1]

The estimate presented in March was $400,000, with each partner responsible for half—then estimated at $200,000 apiece. The October report says the cost-sharing agreement is in place, but does not provide a revised cost estimate.[1][2]
