Red Rose Drive sinkholes get repair funding

The Oct. 5 authorization also covers a failing roadway drain on Equity Lane, with roughly $12,747 approved for both sites.

Powder Springs City Council approved roughly $12,747 on Oct. 5 for HD Excavations & Utilities, LLC to repair sinkholes associated with storm-pipe damage on Red Rose Drive and a failing roadway drain on Equity Lane.[1][2][3]

The Sept. 30 work order says gaps in pipe joints were undercutting fill material and forming sinkholes around three stormwater structures at the site listed as 3185 Red Rose Drive. The planned work calls for excavating the affected joints, repairing them with grout and filling the sinkholes.[3]

At 3860 Equity Lane, the work order identifies failed support beneath a grated drain inlet in the roadway. The repair calls for cutting the pavement, repairing the underlying structure, backfilling and patching the road.[3]

The signed resolution identifies the repairs as high priority and funds them from the stormwater general repairs and maintenance line. The approval and supporting work order establish the authorized work, not that repairs have begun or finished; they do not provide a construction schedule.[1][2][3]
