Goodes and Rivertown could get master plans—if the community backs them
The October comprehensive plan lists exploration in 2028–2030 and a $150,000 cost estimate. For Goodes, it carries forward an unfinished idea from 2021.
Goodes and Rivertown have a conditional place on Chattahoochee Hills’ planning work list. The Georgia city’s comprehensive plan, adopted in October 2026, calls for exploring master plans for one or both historic crossroads—“if supported by the community.”[1]
The work program places that exploration in 2028–2030, with an estimated cost of $150,000 and the general fund and grants listed as funding sources. The figure is a planning estimate; the entry does not document an appropriation or a contract award.[1]
For Goodes, this carries forward an unfinished idea. The plan says the crossroads was identified for additional planning in the 2021 comprehensive plan, but no work had begun as of 2026.[1]
The purpose is to work out what development should look like in places defined by their history. The plan describes historic crossroads as rural settlement centers with churches, general stores, schools and surrounding homes. It says additional planning is needed to determine appropriate scale and design before other historic crossroads develop.[1]
The broader land-use strategy also suggests considering visions, signage and branding for Goodes and Rivertown. Those are possibilities to explore—not a selected redevelopment design or a construction project.[1]
