Local brief
Fulton’s road-tax tracker says 91% on budget. Here’s what that measures.
Ahead of the Nov. 3 renewal vote, the county dashboard offers a more qualified picture than “on time and within budget”—but not a completed-project audit.
Explore the source documents“On time and within budget” is how a transportation-tax renewal notice on Chattahoochee Hills’ website describes projects funded by the tax. Fulton County’s project dashboard supplies a more qualified scorecard: 91% on budget and 96% on schedule, alongside 691 listed projects.[1][2]
Those numbers come with definitions worth reading before the Nov. 3 vote. The dashboard compares current cost estimates with original budgets adjusted for approved changes in project scope. So an “on-budget” rating does not necessarily mean a project still costs what was first budgeted.[1][2]
For timing, the comparison is with the original schedule in the vendor contract, where applicable. Projects up to 90 days late receive a yellow rating; those at least 91 days late receive red. Pending or unstarted projects have a separate gray status.[2]
The headline percentages are not presented as a completed-project audit. The explorer includes the 2017–2022 and 2022–2027 programs and stages ranging from planning to completion. Its summary does not isolate finished projects or establish how many of those missed their targets. It therefore cannot, by itself, verify or disprove the city notice’s assurance about projects already delivered—or establish Chattahoochee Hills’ individual performance.[1][2]
The dashboard labels its data current as of Oct. 12, 2026. It is a useful checkpoint for voters, provided its ratings are read as defined measures of project performance, not a blanket guarantee.[2]
The decision ahead is whether to renew the transportation sales tax in Fulton County outside Atlanta. The ballot question specifies a 0.75% tax for five years for transportation improvements and congestion reduction; the city notice describes the measure as maintaining the existing rate. Voters decide Nov. 3.[1]
