Held Atlanta proposal calls for jail proceeds to support equity center and transitional housing

A held Atlanta resolution would reaffirm support for closing and repurposing the Atlanta City Detention Center and for using any lease or sale proceeds exclusively to construct a center for equity and transitional housing.

The Public Safety & Legal Administration Committee unanimously held resolution 26-R-4126 on Sept. 28 for additional information and further review. The resolution expresses a proposed council position; the recorded hold does not close the jail or commit proceeds to construction.
