A proposed Atlanta donation would put up to $5,000 toward programming and transportation needs at the Truist Andrew & Walter Young At-Promise Center, which serves young people in southwest Atlanta.[1]

Councilmembers Wayne Martin and Eshé Collins sponsor ordinance 26-O-1568. It would send District 11 carry-forward funds to the Atlanta Police Foundation for the center at 2220 Campbellton Road SW. The ordinance’s payment provision expressly includes transportation, a purpose not mentioned in the agenda’s shorter description.[1][2]

The legislation describes the foundation’s At-Promise services as including academic support, workforce development, mental-health counseling, conflict resolution and life-skills training. Those descriptions are not a spending breakdown for this donation: the measure does not divide the proposed contribution among individual services or transportation.[1]

The Finance/Executive Committee lists the proposal for second reading Oct. 14 at 1:30 p.m. Council referred it to committee without objection Oct. 5. That referral was not approval of the donation, and the upcoming listing does not guarantee a vote or establish that money has been paid.[1][2]
