Atlanta has submitted a federal funding application for an automated building-code permitting demonstration seeking up to $1.5 million. Ordinance 26-O-1518 proposes retroactively authorizing and ratifying that submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on behalf of the Department of City Planning.

The supporting ordinance says the demonstration would test an automated permitting platform in a government permitting environment and evaluate processing timelines, workflow efficiency, staff roles and applicant experience. The measure concerns the application; these passages do not establish a grant award or an operating automated system.
