Atlanta panel puts another parking-contract extension on hold
The six-month proposal would reach back to Oct. 2. The last extension listed in the ordinance ended a day earlier.
Explore the source documentsAtlanta’s Transportation Committee has put a proposed six-month extension of the city’s on-street parking-management agreement on hold—after the previous extension’s listed Oct. 1 end date.[1]
Five members voted unanimously Oct. 14 to hold ordinance 26-O-1557, according to draft minutes. The measure would extend the agreement with SP Plus All N One Joint Venture retroactively from Oct. 2, 2026, through April 1, 2027. The committee action was neither approval nor rejection of that extension.[1]
This would be another bridge to a replacement contract. The ordinance’s history describes a 90-day extension in 2024, followed by successive month-to-month extensions covering June 14, 2024, through Oct. 1, 2026.[1]
The Transportation Department says it needs the additional six months to complete the solicitation and execution of a new contract. Procurement officials state a target of completing a new solicitation and awarding an agreement before April 1, 2027—not an established award date.[1]
The recorded action gives no reason for the hold. The records reviewed also do not resolve what authority covers operations after Oct. 1 or how far the replacement procurement has progressed. Those remain unanswered contract-administration questions; the hold itself does not establish that parking services have stopped.[1]
