Atlanta’s Finance/Executive Committee voted 5–0 Oct. 14 to recommend quarterly spending reports on city funds whose money comes with legal strings attached, according to draft minutes.[1]

The substitute version of resolution 26-R-3802 explicitly names the Hotel/Motel Special Revenue Fund, Park Improvement Fund and Affordable Housing Trust Fund. It also covers similar restricted funds governed by designated spending categories, percentage-based allocations or other legally required expenditure guidelines.[1]

The proposal would ask the chief financial officer to coordinate with the mayor’s office, Finance and the departments administering the money to submit ongoing reports to the committee. The focus is not simply how much Atlanta spends, but spending from accounts with rules attached.[1]

This is a request for reporting, not a finding that money has been misspent. The committee’s recommendation is not final Council adoption; the minutes list Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. as the next checkpoint. The records reviewed do not establish final adoption or whether reports have already been produced.[1]
